Boosting Your Metabolism While Burning Fat By Using Cinnamon

Boosting Your Metabolism While Burning Fat By Using Cinnamon

I have to say this was a shocker to me as well.  I only recently found out about cinnamon boosting your metabolism while helping to burn fat. Imagine instantly boosting your metabolism and then burning more fat throughout the whole day — even when you’re just relaxing or even sleeping..

Cinnamon is very good for the following..
  • Controls insulin levels (which means less calories stored as fat)
  • Speeds metabolism (so you burn more even at rest)
  • Helps to burn belly fat (cinnamon impacts abdominal fat)
  • Suppresses appetite (so you stay full longer)

There are so many different things you can use cinnamon for as well.  I make cinnamon keto bread (recipe to follow in another article), It is also easy to add to your morning keto coffee.  I’m not really a smoothie drinker but I am sure you can make that work as well.

Pretty awesome, right?  There are several studies to prove cinnamon is great for you and great for your keto lifestyle.

Why is cinnamon good for the body?

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), a teaspoon of ground cinnamon (2.6 grams) contains about 2.1 grams of carbohydrates, 26 mg of calcium, 2 mg of magnesium, 2 mg of phosphorus, vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B, and vitamin K.

Cinnamon is used daily in many cultures, because of its widespread benefits. It’s one of the most popular herbs and spices in terms of its antioxidant levels.  Antioxidants prevent oxidative stress from free radicals.  Oxidative stress has been linked to many harmful effects on the body, including DNA damage and metabolic conditions such as diabetes and high cholesterol levels. Atherosclerosis, heart disease, and obesity are others mentioned in several studies.  Cinnamon also reduces the risk of cancer, heart attacks.  I know first hand of this!

How does cinnamon promote weight loss?

Yes cinnamon boosts our metabolism but exactly how does it help us lose weight?  Well for starters cinnamon is a well-known anti-diabetic spice. It can help lower and maintain blood sugar levels. Another fact is that it helps improve cell sensitivity to the action of the hormone insulin.  Glucose is transported from the blood into the cell to be used as energy.

Cinnamon can also aid in blocking the activity of many digestive enzymes, thus slowing the absorption of sugar from the blood after eating a high-carbohydrate meal. Aside from diabetes, cinnamon has shown promise in promoting weight loss.

Cinnamon is high in fiber. The spice can therefore help reduce food cravings by promoting a feeling of satiety and fullness. It also can boost metabolism, since the body uses more energy to process the spice than it does for other foods.
