When you’re living the keto lifestyle, you know not to eat that cake or that big bowl of pasta. But sometimes we forget that drinks can also contain lots of carbs and or sugar! I don’t just mean that hot chocolate or the pumpkin spiced frappuccinos. Even certain “healthy” smoothies, some of them are crazy high in carbs.
I don’t want you to worry because we can most of the time recreate our favorite drinks. This is possible by substituting things like milk with almond milk, or sugar with stevia for example.
Moon Milk
I know what you’re thinking, “What the heck is a moon milk drink?” Am I right? I’m with you there, I had no idea what this was. But then I tried it and…I immediately fell in love and I now drink this twice sometimes 3 times a week. This blue keto drink looks like a laboratory experiment but I promise it is so good. This drink is blue because of the butterfly pea flower tea. This tea tastes similar to green tea. For a pink version, use passionfruit herbal tea instead of butterfly pea flower tea, and use 1⁄8 teaspoon rosewater instead of the vanilla extract.
Ingredients
- 3 drops liquid stevia
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup strong brewed hot butterfly pea flower herbal tea
- ¼ cup canned unsweetened full-fat coconut milk
- ¼ teaspoon ashwagandha powder
*Ashwagandha powder comes from a plant in the nightshade flowering plant family. It ranges from annual and perennial herbs and such.
Directions:
1.) Add all the ingredients into a blender.
2.) Blend for a minute or until smooth.
3.) Serve right away.
